Het instrument beschikt over een pianoklankgenerator en een klavier van topkwaliteit, die samen ondergebracht zitten in een gladde, moderne behuizing. Het ingebouwde meerkanaals luidsprekersysteem beschikt over voldoende kracht om er intieme concerten mee te geven. Een zorgvuldig samengestelde reeks extra sounds – die bestaat uit onder meer elektrische piano’s, strijkers, orgels en synthesizers – is eveneens beschikbaar; waardoor de FP-90 moeiteloos gebruikt kan worden bij uiteenlopende muzikale scenario’s. En via de Bluetooth® audio/MIDI-ondersteuning is het mogelijk om draadloos verbinding te maken met Piano Partner 2 van Roland, evenals andere muziekapps die zich op een smartphone of tablet bevinden.
